Athletic trainers are pretty much the jack of all trades when it come the medical world. We receive training in injury prevention, management and rehabilitation, and care of all athletic injuries. But, it doesn’t end there. We have training in nutrition, weight management, sports psychology, strength training and conditioning. Throw in some budgeting, ordering, facility management, staff management, administrative skills, clerical skills and more.
Our skills often extend beyond just what we learned in school. Because of budgeting constraints we often find ourselves repairing athletic equipment. Fixing and maintaining ice machines, and washers and dryers. We repurpose items that aren’t being used and make them into useful tools for rehab, strengthening, balance training and more. We take unused spaces and create productive uses for them to help out athletes get better, stronger, and fitter.
When it comes to taking care of our athletes, we have the training, and ingenuity to get it done. We ARE athletic trainers.
